One day, my sister, who has been pregnant for six months, caught a bad cold. She wanted to take medicine for her cold but she wondered whether the medicine will do harm to the baby. She turned on the computer, went online and googled or searched for information on the safety of the cold medicine. After that, she made a right decision.

The impact that computer has on our daily life is undeniable. There is a growing awareness of both the positive and negative influences that computers have brought to us. Some people might be right to think that computers have made life complex and stressful. From my point of view, those shortcomings can be neglected when the advantages of computers are mentioned.

No one can deny the fact that computers have made life easier. For example, students will go to their computers after school, either to surf the Internet or to play computer games. Girls always like surfing the Internet to look for the current trends in fashion. Boys are fond of playing computer games such as CS and Half Life. Not only do teenagers reap the benefits from computers. Old people also enjoy the entertainment that computers bring to them. My grandmother is keen on chatting online, so she does not feel lonely anymore.

With computers, life is more enjoyable. Mr. Wang, my neighbor, told me that when he was young, he wanted to be a writer. As years slid by, his dream almost faded as he failed to get accepted as a literature major. After graduation, he became a businessman but he never forgot his dream. Now, with the help of computers and the Internet, he writes in his blog everyday. In fact, his blog has a large number of readers. The computer has helped him realize his dream. Another advantage that can't be ignored is that computers have added much convenience to our lives. Once upon a time, shopping was really a tedious task. We had to drive to the store and go to every floor just to seek for a simple object we needed. If we went to the store during the holidays, much more time is wasted because of the traffic jam. If we bought something that was on sale, we cannot avoid waiting in a long line to pay for it. Shopping can be a time-consuming task. But now, it is a totally different story. We can now make a purchase any time, any day. All that we need to do is click the button. What's more, we students are also thankful for computers because they have saved us a lot of trouble in writing essays. We don't have to go to library to find information from among a frightening number of books. Instead, we can simply go online and seek for the information we need. Pens and ink were important to a student in the past, yet they fade due to the wide use of computers. After information is downloaded from the internet, we simply organize it, arrange it using Microsoft Word and then print it. Isn’t this a more convenient process?
